¿Alguna vez has visto una foto de Jane Birkin cuando era joven, has pensado “joder, no se puede ser más sexy, quién la pillara” y luego te has dado cuenta de que esa mujer ya volvía loco al personal cuando tú ni siquiera eras un pipiolo? Pues la nueva entrega de Idealipsticks te hace sentir lo mismo. Jave y Eva Ryjlen se están convirtiendo en una suerte de Dorian Grey musical por el que, cuanto más pasan los años, más atractivos suenan.

Hablamos de un cuarto álbum sorprendentemente contemporáneo pero hecho a la vieja escuela, con sonidos añejos, a medio camino entre unas Black Belles algo más bronceadas como en “Shake It Baby” y el Hendrix más rotundo de la entrada de guitarra en “Under Your Bones”. El peso de una banda cada vez más consolidada detrás de los Ryjlen también hace que sean, probablemente, las canciones que hasta el momento suenan más llenas, pero sin necesidad de maquillaje. “Dream A Little Bit” por ejemplo, merecido homenaje a los injustamente olvidados Top Models, se sostiene por momentos en una desnudez con la que pocas bandas se atreverían. Un sonido en apariencia crudo que ya es marca de la casa. En eso siguen siendo los Idealipsticks de siempre: Sonarían así de seductores incluso recién levantados un domingo por la mañana. Pero luego van y te sueltan el estribillo de “Blacktown Road”. Y te desarman de nuevo.

Definitivamente con este EP Idealipsticks han madurado mucho y esto, lejos de haberles hecho perder el atractivo fresco y espontáneo de sus primeros discos, les hace todavía más valiosos para una escena, la del Rock en este país, que necesita (y mucho) de la clase y el buen gusto de este grupo. Yo pienso ponerme lo más guapo posible para ir a verles en directo cuando presenten estas canciones. Por intentar, aunque seguramente sin éxito, estar a la altura.
